Tottenham have so far failed in their attempts to sign Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose, according to Fabrizio Romano.

On Monday morning, we relayed a report from the Athletic claiming Spurs are still hoping to sign a striker before the January transfer window closes with Harry Kane ruled out until April with a hamstring injury. Willian Jose has been the name in the headlines of late, but it seems a deal is far from complete.

Romano, who is always reliable when it comes to transfers, believes Tottenham and Sociedad have not reached an agreement for Willian Jose’s transfer. It’s unclear whether talks are ongoing over the 28-year-old, but right now there is no agreement. The journalist goes on to say that AC Milan striker Krzysytof Piatek is still an option for Spurs.

Meanwhile, Romano backs up the reports from the Daily Mirror and the Athletic claiming Tottenham are confident PSV winger Steven Bergwijn will sign for the club by the end of the week.

A striker is surely the priority for Jose Mourinho, though, and Spurs fans will be hoping the Willian Jose deal can be revived by Daniel Levy in the coming days.
