Tottenham have been handed a significant injury boost ahead of the winter break after the club confirmed that Ben Davies has returned to first-team training.
The 26-year-old hasn’t featured since hobbling out of the 3-2 victory over West Ham in Jose Mourinho’s first game with an ankle problem in November – and although Davies will miss the FA Cup 4th Round replay against Southampton tomorrow, the Spurs boss reckons that the Welshman could be available to return to action after the upcoming break.

Speaking to in his pre-match press conference for Spurs’ game against Southampton on Wednesday, Mourinho was asked whether the Welsh left-back will be fit to face Aston Villa on 15 February. He told Football.London: “I believe so. He has been training with us since yesterday. After tomorrow the boys will have some time off, but not him. When we return for Villa he will be training fully for the week.”
Elsewhere, Steve Bergwijn is unavailable for the game, whilst Moussa Sissoko (knee) and Harry Kane (hamstring) will definitely miss out against the Saints. Meanwhile, the ankle injury Dele Alli sustained from Raheem Sterling’s challenge against Manchester City on Sunday has left him doubtful for the game.
