Tottenham are interested in signing Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayandir but face competition from Sheffield United, according to Turkish reports.
On Saturday, we relayed a story from Turkish newspaper Fanatik claiming Spurs are set to enter talks with Fenerbahce over a deal for Bayandir, who has kept five clean sheets in 24 Super Lig games so far this season.
And now, another Turkish outlet called Fotomac says Spurs are set to enter negotiations for Bayandir. However, the report suggests the 21-year-old is not seen as a replacement for Hugo Lloris.
Rather, Bayandir is being lined up as a replacement for Michel Vorm, who is once again out of contract at the end of the season. With that in mind, it sounds like Bayandir will compete with Paulo Gazzaniga to be Lloris’ deputy if he joins the club.
Tottenham aren’t the only club in the race to sign Bayandir, though. Turkish Football claims Sheffield United are also keen with Dean Henderson set to go back to Manchester United this summer after his loan spell.
Sheffield United are more likely to make Bayandir their first-choice stopper, which may tempt him to move to Yorkshire instead of north London.
