Ex-Spurs midfielder thinks Aston Villa star will “definitely be on Tottenham’s shopping list”

Ex-Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara thinks his former club will target Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish this summer.

Grealish was heavily linked with a move to Spurs in the summer of 2018 but a deal failed to materialise. He has since earned promotion to the Premier League with Villa but is in danger of falling back down to the Championship following a poor run of results.

If Villa are relegated, there is a good chance Grealish will return to the Premier League immediately. His performances have been worthy of a ‘Big Six’ club throughout the campaign, and a number of the top teams would likely find a place for the 24-year-old.

And O’Hara, who made over 30 league appearances for Tottenham as a promising youngster, thinks the Londoners will almost certainly have Grealish’s name on their list of targets going into next season.

“For me, Grealish fits into that Tottenham team. Absolutely. He gets in pockets,” O’Hara told talkSPORT (as relayed by BirminghamLive).

“Grealish would fit perfectly into Spurs’ set-up. He gets into those pockets, he makes things happen, and he would be the one that could link up and put people in like [Lucas] Moura, Son [Heung-min] and [Steven] Bergwijn. I think Grealish would definitely be on Tottenham’s shopping list.”

Giovani Lo Celso has begun to look like a worthy replacement for Christian Eriksen in recent weeks, but buying Grealish would add another creative outlet to the squad – he can also play in the front line when necessary.

That said, it will be difficult for Spurs to attract him unless they secure Champions League football, which is looking more and more difficult.
