Tottenham have entered the race to sign Birmingham City starlet Jude Bellingham, according to the Daily Star.

Bellingham has been the Championship’s breakthrough hit this season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 30 appearances despite being just 16 years of age.

The Star claims Spurs and Liverpool have now ensured all of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ are in pursuit of Bellingham. It is believed Manchester United tried to sign the teenager in the January transfer window but Birmingham did not want to sell for less than £25 million.

The report goes on to say that Bellingham has also been scouted by Barcelona and Real Madrid. It is understood he will likely be sold for upwards of £30 million this summer – but do Tottenham have a realistic chance of signing him?

A move to north London could depend on whether Jose Mourinho’s side qualify for the Champions League. Spurs fell further behind Chelsea at the weekend and were also leapfrogged by Manchester United in the battle for a top four finish.

Of course, fifth place may be enough to secure a Champions League spot this term because of Manchester City’s off-pitch troubles. In any case, Liverpool and perhaps other clubs will probably be more enticing potential destinations for Bellingham at this stage.
