Tottenham host Wolves in a crunch Premier League clash this weekend, and Jose Mourinho has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min remain sidelined, though Mourinho gave positive updates on the duo’s fitness in his press conference on Friday, which you can watch in full here.
Moussa Sissoko, Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon are also out, but Dele Alli can play as he is yet to learn whether he will be banned after being charged by the FA for his coronavirus video.
Mourinho has revealed Erik Lamela – who made a difference as a substitute against Chelsea last weekend – is only fit enough to play 20-25 minute from the bench (via Dan Kilpatrick).
We think there will be two changes to the side that lost at Stamford Bridge, with Serge Aurier and Alli coming in for Japhet Tanganga and Jan Vertonghen – the experienced Belgian scored the winner in the reverse fixture against Wolves in December but looked slow once again last week.
Alli could play as a ‘False 9’, providing the primary goal threat with help from Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura. That front three will be supported by a midfield trio of Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.
Aurier will return at right-back, joined in the back four by Davies, Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld – with Hugo Lloris between the sticks.
Here’s our predicted XI to face Wolves – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments section below.
winks – why
Why is winks playing
Again we starting Lloris he us not the number one too slow, Winks not a defensive midfielder and Auria sorry he don’t deserve to be in the starting line up.
Can’t agree with anything you have written
Why? The gradual decline of quality in our squad leads people to accepting below par players. Levy has you right where he wants you, open your eyes.
Lori’s has been amazing lately what you talking about?
hope wolves chinese owners teach alli a lesson
Won’t be a lesson in footy!
I also think the same Alli should be a striker just like that…
Best selection
Lloris
Aurier Alderwierd Sanchez Tanyana
Le Celso Winks Ndomemble
Lamela Ali or Moura Benjwuin
Because there is no other better player NO WAY Ben Davies to be selected
Japhet should take the place of Davies. Davies doesn’t seem to give enough energy and pace. As a result he he’s hesitant to mine up when we attack
Japhet tanganga should play, not ben davies
Alderweierald had been poor recently. Tanganga should be given a chance alongside Sanchez IMO.
Give Parrot a try see if his good enough only fit striker ffs
Winks rarely has a bad game, he is our most consistent player. He might not be the most skilled but his passing has improved and he gives 110% kinda like a Scott Parker
Winks need to look at vids of Stevie Perryman.
Dele…absolutely should be playing that “false 9″ role!
That midfield 3 is the way forward too.
As to the defence…”lopsided” back 4 again? Aurier will never tuck in to let his left sided counterpart bomb on…if we had a left sided player to bomb on! Sess could but he’s not there, but when he is, the fact that Aurier isn’t disciplined enough at the times he’s needed to be means that the defence is vulnerable. So, Jose plays 3 “proper” defenders so that Aurier can look better than I think he is! The midfield 3 can get a little pushed left because of this, but that’s the price paid for not having the right back we need! Japhet as RB? Yes, but his inexperience at this level still could, and has, seen him caught out leading to a similar issue (but for different reasons!) as with Aurier.
You have to give Parrot 30 mins, he could be another Bale Best or Crouch.
He’s there waiting…you’ve GOT to try him out before someone else get the benefit ….?
