Marcel Sabitzer scored twice inside the opening 21 minutes as Tottenham crashed out of the Champions League losing 3-0 on the night and 4-0 on aggregate to RB Leipzig.

Substitute Emil Forsberg added a third for the German’s three minutes from time.

Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the day.

Hugo Lloris, 2 – Absolutely embarrassing performance from the captain. Awful handling for the Marcel Sabitzer’s opening goal and then should have kept out his second – caught out at his near post. Horrible evening when Tottenham needed him most.

Serge Aurier, 3 – What was he thinking for the second goal? Horrendous header which summed up his season in a defensive aspect. So careless.

Eric Dier, 6 – Another solid performance from the defender. Made a fine block in the build-up to Leipzig’s opener and dealt with everything else comfortably. In good form right now.

Toby Alderweireld, 5 – Strangely, didn’t have much to deal with.

Japhet Tanganga, 4 – Could have done more to stop Sabitzer heading home his second and was then needlessly booked in the second period.

Ryan Sessegnon, 3 – Made his first start for almost six weeks and looked completely out of his depth from minute one. Lacked energy.

Harry Winks, 4 – Sloppy in the middle of the park. Couldn’t keep up with the pace of the game.

Giovani Lo Celso, 6 – Never tried to stop making things happen and almost reduced the deficit with a curling effort before half-time.

Erik Lamela, 5 – Worked his socks off, but continues to make poor decisions in the final third.

Lucas Moura, 4 – Similar to what we’ve seen in the previous few weeks.

Dele Alli, 6 – Drew so many fouls. Showed some nice touches, but it didn’t quite happen.

Substitutes

Gedson Fernandes, N/A – Replaced Lo Celso in the closing stages.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott, N/A – The teenager was given his Tottenham debut in added-time.

  1. Being honest we all feared that would happen. If you are told to buy a striker or loan one and you don’t what do you expect. If it was cost I ask this question what did we loose money wise going out at this stage and what cost to the club not having CL next year. Tell me again how much was that striker.

  2. All very well going on non stop about our lack of strikers, but the defence and midfield are just as bad.The whole team is in a mighty mess.
Why does Jose not do the honourable thing and resign, like Klinsmann did recently at Hertha Berlin?
Granted it has not been the ideal solution to come in mid season from that other conman Pocc, but the team has gone backwards.JM is a fraud, a has been and a liar stating that the tie with Leipzig was not over after the 1st leg when we all knew that it was. Also saying that he will win silverware at Tottenham.Never going to happen this century.
I appeal to all season ticket holders and those on the waiting list: do not renew your season tickets come this May.That is the only thing Mr Levy and the board will understand.
