Despite crashing out of the Champions League to RB Leipzig on Tuesday, a number of Tottenham fans have taken to social media in praise of midfielder Dele Alli.
Understandably frustrated at the defeat, Alli conducted himself excellently in an interview with BT Sport as you can see here, but was also the only Spurs player to come out and apologise for the performance and result on social media.
Alli’s performance himself was generally good, although the England man cut a frustrated figure after being fouled countless times – with only one being punished by Spanish referee Carlos del Cerro Grande.
The midfielder has often been criticised by fans for attitude problems and other off the field issues in recent seasons, so in such a difficult period for the club, it’s good to see a 23-year-old stand up and be counted.
You can see Alli’s apologetic tweet and some of the best replies below.

Keep going Del, you’re putting in a shift, that’s all we ever ask

You put in a real shift and tried to make things happen, so thank you Dele. But with nothing ahead of you it was always going to be hard – that’s the Board’s fault.
The defensive errors were concerning though.
