Tottenham have edged ahead of the competition in the race to sign QPR starlet Eberechi Eze, according to the Sun.
Eze has been one of the standout performers in the Championship so far this term, scoring 12 goals in 37 appearances from midfield. The 21-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of next season.
The Sun claims Spurs are now ’emerging as clear favourites’ to sign Eze, who was apparently watched by club scout Brian Carey during QPR’s 3-1 league victory over Preston North End last weekend – the England Under-21 international was on the scoresheet at Deepdale.
It is believed Sheffield United and Crystal Palace are also keen on Eze but have been put off by QPR’s £20 million valuation. Jose Mourinho is said to be considering bringing Eze in, while the story goes on to suggest Mauricio Pochettino was also keen on the youngster.
Tottenham need to sign a number of players in various positions in the summer, and Eze would be an ideal addition if Mourinho wants to freshen up his midfield. Time will tell if he is a genuine target.
