Tottenham could make an ambitious summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Braut Haaland, according to reports in Italy.
Haaland, who is still just 19, has enjoyed an extraordinary season in front of goal, scoring 40 times in just 33 combined appearances for RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.
He left Austria for Germany in the January transfer window and made an immediate impact for Dortmund, scoring a hat-trick on his debut and finding the net twice against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Round of 16.
Such has been his impact, the Norwegian is already being linked with yet another move in the summer. And Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claims Spurs are ‘very interested’ and could challenge Juventus and Manchester United for his signature.
At this stage, however, Haaland joining Tottenham is surely unlikely. For one thing, the Londoners face an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League, and Haaland will surely only be willing to play for a team competing among Europe’s elite.
What’s more, his wage demands are bound to be huge as a result of his burgeoning form and reputation. Indeed, this one looks like a pipe dream.
