Tottenham are set to battle it out with London rivals Chelsea for the signature of Burnley and England goalkeeper Nick Pope this summer, according to Football.London.

Pope, who has more than three years left on his current deal with the Clarets, has been one of the outstanding shotstoppers in the Premier League this season and has kept 11 clean sheets in 2019-2020, which is more than any other keeper in England’s topflight.

As for Spurs, they’ve suffered a number of goalkeeping issues throughout the campaign, with Hugo Lloris, Paulo Gazzaniga and even Michel Vorm in the FA Cup exit to Norwich City last month all making costly errors over the course of the season.

And, according to the report, Jose Mourinho is looking to shift the Frenchman, who has struggled with his form since dislocating his elbow in a 3-0 defeat at Brighton in October and possibly replace him with Pope, who will surely be eyeing up Jordan Pickford’s England number one spot ahead of next summer’s Euro’s.
