“I just wanted to go back to Tottenham” are the words of former Spurs striker Jermain Defoe, who has revealed that he rejected interest from Italian giants Juventus back in January 2009 to ensure he made a swift return to White Hart Lane.
After struggling for minutes at the beginning of the 2008-2009 campaign, Defoe was signed by Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, but after less than 12 months at Fratton Park, he was back in North London and once again under the guidance of Redknapp, who had been appointed Spurs boss less than three months earlier.
Defoe discussed his career in length with Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, and you can see the full interview by clicking here.
