Tottenham have joined a host of clubs, including Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester City, United and Liverpool, in the race to sign Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder, according to reliable French outlet L’Equipe.

The 29-year-old initially made his name for Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse, before becoming known on the European stage after scoring 70 goals across three seasons for Sevilla between 2016 and 2019 – two of which came as his side knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League in 2017-2018.

His excellent form saw him surprisingly join Monaco last summer, whom he has scored 18 goals in the league this term, and is Ligue 1’s joint top goalscorer with PSG’s Kylian Mbappe.

However, despite his excellent form in France, and the fact that Ben Yedder signed a five-year contract in August, the frontman could once again be on the move again at the end of this season – with Real Madrid, Atletico and Valencia all interested in his signature as well as Jose Mourinho.

Despite signing PSV winger Steven Bergwijn back in January, Tottenham remain desperate for someone to challenge and play as back-up to Harry Kane – and Monaco could be forced to sell, with the Coronavirus pandemic causing major financial difficulties for many clubs.

  1. No. We need a point striker who can finish in the box opportunities created by wingers either crossing or running at defenders
