Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to sell Tanguy Ndombele this summer despite interest from Barcelona, according to the Telegraph.

Last month we relayed a Sky Sports story claiming Barcelona have offered defenders Samuel Umtiti and Nelson Semedo in exchange for Ndombele, who has struggled to settle at Spurs since becoming the club’s record signing last summer.

But the Telegraph is now reporting that Ndombele wants to stay at Tottenham and prove himself despite the opportunity to play with Lionel Messi and Co. at the Nou Camp. It is believed the Frenchman does not want to leave north London with a ‘flop’ label.

The Telegraph’s story also claims Levy is reluctant to let Ndombele leave with the club having spent so much money on him. Whether the chairman’s stance would change if Barcelona made a decent enough offer is unclear.

In any case, the fact Levy, Jose Mourinho – who foolishly defied lockdown restrictions to train with Ndombele – and the player himself all seem keen to make things work is very promising. Ndombele has shown glimpses of brilliance – Tottenham fans will be hoping he can add consistency next term.

  1. I am amazed that such a highly paid pro cannot regulate what he puts in his mouth. He looked at least a stone overweight.

  2. Keep him next season alot of players take time to adapt to the English game if he doesn’t knuckle down sell him or do we settle for 2 players for one difficult

  3. Ndombele is a classy midfielder. The way he plays and moves the ball is unlike any other. He is a terrific talent and hasn’t even played that badly for us, it’s just the media jumping on him and hyping it up as usual because of his transfer fee. Give him a bit of time and you will see that he has the ability to be one of the best central midfielders in world football.

  4. Give him a chance, takes time to settle in premiership any foriegn player will tell you, big clubs including Barcelona wanted him before us, think people will change there minds next season he could be what we need.
