Jan Vertonghen admitted that Wolves winger Adama Traore is the toughest opposition player that he’s ever faced in his career.
Despite having featured against the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League, the Belgium defender said that the toughest afternoon he’s ever endured was during Tottenham’s 2-1 victory at Molineux back in December – when he started at left-back and came up against one of the quickest and most powerful players in the Premier League in the former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough man.
Traore did equalise for Wolves with a stunning strike that day, but Vertonghen went one better for Spurs by nodding home an injury-time winner to secure a vital three points.
