Tottenham are interested in signing Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to the Daily Mail.

As relayed by the Mail’s story, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has told Sky Italia Milinkovic-Savic’s future will be “assessed at the end of the season”, admitting it “shouldn’t be a problem” if the midfielder wants to leave.

And the Mail claims Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in signing the 25-year-old if he decides it is time to move on.

However, it is believed he could cost as much as £80 million, which could makes things difficult for Tottenham amid the current financial uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Mail goes on to say Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of Milinkovic-Savic having tried to sign him for Manchester United in 2018. The Serbia international hasn’t experienced a drop-off in form since then, so there is a good chance Mourinho will still be keen to work with him.

Earlier on Friday, we relayed a Telegraph report suggesting Tottenham remain fond of Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Surely the Londoners will only be able to afford one new star midfielder.
