Tottenham are interested in signing Stoke City starlet Mohamed Sankoh, according to Football Insider.
Transfermarkt claims Sankoh has scored three goals and registered three assists in six appearances in the Under-18s Premier League this season.
Football Insider believes Spurs have joined Celtic and Chelsea in the race to sign the 16-year-old striker, who has already earned three caps for the Netherlands’ Under-17s side.
The report suggests Celtic and Chelsea have already attempted to lure Sankoh away from Stoke but have so far failed to do so, which could give Tottenham the opportunity to strike.
Sankoh’s youth contract is said to be close to expiration, and it is believed Spurs are keeping close tabs on the teenager’s situation.
He can apparently agree professional terms when he turns 17 in October, so the Londoners will probably be keen to take him away from Stoke before then if their interest is genuine.
Regardless of Harry Kane’s future, Tottenham should be looking for a long-term successor to the England captain up front – though of course it’s impossible to tell how good a player Sankoh will develop into at this stage.
