Kyle Walker-Peters wants to stay at Southampton if the current Premier League season extends past June, when his loan at St Mary’s is set to expire, according to Sky Sports News.

The 23-year-old, who endured a difficult start to the campaign at Tottenham – featuring just five times in all competitions – joined the Saints in January on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season.

However, Walker-Peters’s frustrations have continued on the South Coast as he sustained a calf injury on his Southampton debut in the 2-1 defeat to Burnley back in February and was forced off after 73 minutes.

Walker-Peters, whose future at Spurs remains uncertain this summer, hasn’t played since, although the right-back remains determined to make an impact for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

The report from Sky Sports suggests that the former England U21 defender is hopeful that Tottenham will let him stay with the Saints for their nine remaining matches, if the Premier League season does resume amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
