Tottenham are among a group of clubs battling to sign Reims defender Axel Disasi, according to reports in France.
Disasi, a 22-year-old centre-back, made 32 appearances across all competitions in 2019/20 before the French season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Reims were in sixth place before the campaign ended prematurely.
French outlet RMC Sport claims Spurs, Arsenal and Southampton are all interested in signing Disasi this summer. It is believed Sevilla and some German clubs are also keen on the France Under-20 international.
The report suggests Reims will ask for €15 million (around £13.3m) excluding bonuses for their star defender, whose contract expires at the end of next season. The club has already apparently received offers, though none have met their valuation.
Knowing Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, he will not be keen to pay over the odds for a player with just a year left on his current deal. The question is: will Spurs be willing to match the bids of Disasi’s other suitors?
The Londoners are surely likely to move for a new centre-back this summer, especially if Jan Vertonghen does not extend his contract.
Bloody-minded Levy buy or resign.must be someone who can sign talent at SPURS.
