Real Betis are the latest European side to register their interest in Jan Vertonghen – and the Tottenham defender is considering an offer from the La Liga outfit, according to the Daily Star.
Vertonghen, who is out of contract at Spurs at the end of the season, has started just 18 Premier League games for Jose Mourinho’s side this term and his future in north London has still not been decided.
A move to Inter Milan and even a return to former side Ajax have been widely reported in recent months, among a number of other clubs. And the Daily Star are suggesting that Betis, who currently sit 14th in the Spanish league, have now joined the race to sign Belgium’s all-time top appearance-maker.
The report says that Betis have been tracking Vertonghen this season, and are willing to offer him a two-year contract, despite the defender turning 34 next April.
Vertonghen could still sign fresh terms with Spurs, and although this report says that he’s thinking about contemplating a move to the Spanish strugglers, you’d assume that the 33-year-old will still have aspirations to continue playing in Europe.
