The wait is almost over. Tottenham’s Premier League return is this Friday when Manchester United come to town for what could be Spurs’ most significant game of the run-in.
Football London’s reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has been taking questions ahead of the match. He was asked to give his thoughts on a possible starting line-up against United.
Gold thinks Tottenham will line-up in a fluid 4-2-3-1 which could also resemble a 4-3-3. However, there are a couple of surprise omissions.
Alasdair Gold’s Spurs XI vs Man Utd – Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies; Winks, Sissoko; Son, Ndombele, Bergwijn; Kane.
As you can see above, Gold is uncertain about Giovani Lo Celso’s chances of starting. In his Q&A, the journalist notes that Lo Celso wasn’t spotted in any of the photos from Friday’s friendly defeat to Norwich City.
Gold also omits Lucas Moura, suggesting Jose Mourinho will go with a front three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Steven Bergwijn. Tanguy Ndombele is expected to start in midfield with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko. The back four pretty much picks itself.
What do you think of Gold’s predicted XI? Let us know in the comments section below.
Sorry you said a reliable journalist predicts the Tottenham line up. When are you going to tell us his line-up as you only have Alisdair Gold’s line up in this article.
would start vertonghen at left back instead of davies.
Think Jose will play a 3 -5 -2 personally as he is a defensive coach and we have not played a lot of any one formation…..Dier Sanchez Alderweirld with Sessengnon and Aurier as wingbacks, Sissoko Lamela Ndomele with Son & kane up front…Bergjwin starts as sub along with Lucas and LoCelso, Winks, Gedson, Foyth,
Line up will look like this:
Lloris
Aurier Toby Dier Sessengnon
nDombele Sissoko
Lamela Steven Son
Kane
nick a goal then close up shop the jose way he’ll defo play defensive back three reverting to a back 5 and play counter attack
Davies will play. That’s very obvious.
