Tottenham face Everton on Monday night knowing anything but a win will all but end their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.
Thursday’s defeat at Sheffield United seriously hurt Spurs’ push for a top-five finish, so Jose Mourinho has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection to ensure victory over Everton.
Juan Foyth and Japhet Tanganga are out with season-ending injuries, so we don’t expect there to be any changes at the back – unless Mourinho was concerned enough by the defending at Bramall Lane to recall Toby Alderweireld.
In midfield, we think Harry Winks will be re-introduced to provide more of a base alongside Moussa Sissoko, freeing up Giovani Lo Celso to get forward more quickly and often.
Dele Alli has a hamstring problem, and although he hasn’t been ruled out it’s unlikely he will be risked. That means either Steven Bergwijn or Lucas Moura will join Son Heung-min and Harry Kane in the front three.
We really hope it’s Bergwijn, who was substituted just 10 minutes into the second half against Sheffield United while Lucas struggled to prove his worth as a starter. Perhaps Mourinho will drop Lucas despite the Brazilian clearly being one of his manager’s favourites.
Here’s our predicted XI to face Everton – what’s yours? Let us know in the comments section below.
The game against Sheffield was a disaster. Can I ask where the Spurs of last year were. We haas flowing attacking football and was just a pleasure to watch. Our passing was second to none, but now we are a joke.
If this is Jose stile of football well we will be better getting Poch back. We can still make Europe next year.
Why is Jan and Toby not playing together. Sanchez is a joke sometimes and Dier is like a raging bull.
Serg is sometimes like a headless chicken and Harry Kane is all alone up front and when he does get the ball half the time he loses it. Pull your socks up lads and show us what you are made of.
Dier needs help for sure he will be a good C/H going forward but NOW Toby needs to be along side him mid field needs to move the ball faster and forwards to get Harry a better chance off scoring
JOSE is a winner no doubt but ALL players will need to buy into HIS ways off working
All good advice being given by our fans as to our starting line up.No need to bother; Jose will stick by the same weak players that need to be dropped.
Give the youngsters a chance; it can’t be worse than the starting 11 at Sheffield Utd.
Look at Chelsea and Arsenal giving youth a chance.
It has to be moura hes just doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing.
Has to be the worst Brazilian in the premier league I’m even starting wonder if hes even south American lol
I was thinking maybe it would take him time to settle but you can see why poch didn’t start him alot. He need to play more on hes toes and less on hes heals.
Please leave out Sanchez and Aurier, play Toby, he can surely boost that defence and hopefully keep a clean sheet. Don’t bring subs on too late Tanguy Ndombele needs more game time I think COYS
The error from jose was the tactical formation 4-3-2-1 against more physically aggressive side who’s tactically at 3-5-2, muscled out completely at midfield…
And then came the unforgivable error from VAR and the on field umpire…the disallowed goal and not giving an yellow card on the elbowing incident, by these kind of errors even team like Barcelona will lose the match…
Then coming the defensive performance, very very poor, no words to mention but surely no team will win if any body easily concedes like those goals..by this diffence spurs wont achieve anything under any coach…
And again quality of players available also important…comparing with the heavy weights spurs r far behind talentwise for sure…
As of my analysis..if the board is not bringing players with high quality to match with other teams…not seeing any trophies coming in our way…pls leave the pachetino saga..or rednapp saga…even they didn’t achieve anything significantly…for spurs…
Bring in technical quality to the team…and believe the current manager, who ever it may be..
All the best…
