Tottenham star Dele Alli will not recovery from a hamstring problem in time for Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal, Jose Mourinho has revealed.

The England international has missed Spurs’ last two matches after suffering the injury in training. Mourinho was hopeful Alli would be back for the victory over Everton and the draw with Bournemouth, but he didn’t make the squad for either game.

And now, Mourinho has confirmed Alli will play no part in the derby this weekend – as relayed the Athletic journalist Charlie Eccleshare.

Tottenham have looked completely disjointed in attack since the restart and were particularly lacklustre against Bournemouth, failing to register a single shot on target. Mourinho may have looked to remedy that by re-introducing Alli to the starting line-up for Arsenal’s visit, but that is no longer a possibility.

Alli has had a number of issues with his hamstring over the last couple of years, and his return date being constantly pushed back will be a big concern to the club. Hopefully he can get over the worst of his injury troubles in the coming months.
