Tottenham play their penultimate away game of the Premier League season when they face Newcastle United on Thursday.
Jose Mourinho’s side should arrive in the North East in confident mood after coming from behind to defeat Arsenal in the first ever north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday, a result which moved them up to 8th in the standings.
However, the Spurs boss could be without Dele Alli (hamstring) and Tanguy Ndombele (knee), whilst Eric Dier serves the third match of his four-game ban and will therefore miss the trip to St James’ Park.
But there is good news for the Portuguese, who has defender Japhet Tanganga available after a back problem – and we think that the 21-year-old will make his first appearance since the restart in place of Serge Aurier, who is unlikely to be involved after the death of his brother in France earlier this week.
That’s likely to be the only change to the back-four, whilst Harry Winks could partner Lo Celso in a midfield – with Moussa Sissoko getting a well-deserved rest after six consecutive starts since the resumption.
Moving forward, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn are could be given rare chances to impress from the start – supporting Heung Min Son and Harry Kane upfront.
Predicted XI: Lloris, Tanganga, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Davies, Winks, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Lamela, Son, Kane.
