Tottenham are interested in signing Leicester City winger Demarai Gray this summer, according to the Times.
Gray has been in and out of the Leicester team this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
His latest goal came in a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United on Thursday night, helping the Foxes maintain their hunt Champions League football at the expense of the clubs below them in the table – including Spurs.
The Times claims Tottenham now want to sign Gray, a player they have been linked with in the past.
The report suggests Spurs have limited funds to spend this summer, and Gray apparently fits their profile of signing because he has entered the final year of his contract.
Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is also mentioned as an ‘expected arrival’. He too is in the last year of his contract, and on Friday we relayed a Guardian story suggesting Tottenham are locked in negotiations with the Saints over a transfer.
We can only see Gray arriving if Lucas Moura or Erik Lamela leave the club. There simply isn’t room for another attacking midfielder at present.
