Tottenham are considering stealing a march on Liverpool in the race to sign Lille striker Victor Osimhen, according to the Daily Express.
Osimhen was one of the standout players in the French top-flight this season before the campaign was ended early due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 21-year-old scored 13 goals in 27 Ligue 1 appearances, and 18 across all competitions in 2019/20.
The Express claims Liverpool have moved into pole position to sign Osimhen, while Italian club Napoli are said to have already made a £75 million offer, matching Lille’s asking price.
But the report suggests Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is ‘weighing up a late move’ for the striker as he looks to find support for Harry Kane up front.
Kane was in sublime form in Tottenham’s convincing 3-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday, scoring two goals – including this screamer – and producing one of the passes of the season.
But were the England captain to pick up an injury again next season, Spurs will absolutely need able back-up to step in and help the likes of Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura make up for Kane’s absence in front of goal.
Osimhen certainly fits the bill in terms of his age and eye for goal, but £75 million is surely too expensive for Tottenham, who may have to look elsewhere.
Why do people persevere in writing such utter rubbish;perhaps we are stupid enough to read and even comment on.
No way Spurs will ever entertain at present in any case paying out such a large sum.
You even say so in the last sentence so why bother even writing it?
I must be idle to read this rubbish. Levy isn’t going to pay 50m for Osimen. He is still regretting spending such on Ndombele.
