Tottenham are interested in signing Schalke sensation Can Bozdogan this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Bozgodan, 19, broke into the Schalke first-team this season and made three Bundesliga appearances. He is an attacking midfielder who can play on the left or through the middle.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims Atletico Madrid have been following the teenager for a while, but the La Liga giants now apparently face competition from Spurs.

The report goes on to say that Schalke may want just €10 million (around £9.1m) for Bozgodan, who is capped for Germany at Under-18 level.

Spurs are well stocked in attacking midfield, with Lucas Moura, Dele Alli, Steven Bergwijn and Erik Lamela all competing for starting spots.

That said, Bozgodan would likely be viewed as a future prospect. Tottenham will probably be looking at refreshing their front line in the next couple of years, so they arguably need to start looking for new recruits in those positions.

The Londoners already have a promising young attacker on their books in Jack Clarke, but the 19-year-old’s loan moves to Leeds United and QPR have been a disaster. Hopefully the club is more cautious with Bozgodan if he arrives.
