Tottenham are expected to re-open talks with Southampton over a deal for midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to the Daily Mail.

Last week we relayed word from the Guardian suggesting Spurs are confident of securing a deal for Hojbjerg, who has just one year left on his current contract. The Saints stripped him of the captaincy when he made it clear he won’t be extending his deal.

The Telegraph claims Everton have already had a £25 million offer accepted for Hjojberg, but the latest update indicates Tottenham are still very much in for the former Bayern Munich ace.

The Mail believes Spurs are set to ‘renew discussions’ with Southampton, who are apparently holding out for £25 million. The report also suggests Hojbjerg has already told Everton he would rather move to north London than Goodison Park.

If all of the above stories are taken into consideration, it sounds like it’s just a matter of time until Tottenham make a breakthrough, but Southampton could easily lose patience if Spurs don’t meet their valuation soon.

  1. We definitely need a defensive mid and if hojbjerg is the player Jose wants then get him (denis zakaria or konrad laimer would have been my choice but so so). We still badly need a creative mid though. With liverpool and city getting around 100points the last few seasons, and chelsea doing some incredible business that we should have done a long time ago for affordable prices, we cannot hope to get near those sort of points with our current levels of creativity. We also cannot hope to get near those numbers by parking the bus and hitting teams on the break, because too many teams are wise to that and will park the bus against us, so we need genuine creativity to feed the high class direct players we have.

Lorenzo pellegrini, matheus perreira, luis alberto, kai havertz and ferran torres should all be within our price range, aswell as maybe a loan for coutinho. We really messed up by not bringing in ziyech last year and now we must pick from what we can afford from what’s left. We cant roll into possibly our last season with sonny or harry with no creator, they need chances and we need more IQ in our connective play that only an advanced creator can bring.

  2. If spurs want him all levy has to do is pay up. He always wants a player on the cheap. You lost out on grealish for the sake of £5m not qualifying for champions league cost you more than that.

    • Yes agree with these comments, more backwards sideways nonsense upcoming…..
When Le Celso went off yesterday we looked totally devoid of any creativity
Relied on Erikson for for creatively for 4 seasons and when his form dropped we couldn’t break down defences
Now with our slow lets get to the final third and pass backwards style do we need Hojberg?
Let’s spend the money on Eze. We looked at Madison for 2 seasons and he has been Leicester’s best player this season

  3. A leopard never changes his spots;can you imagine the side we would have had we gone ahead and brought in Grealish and Bruno Fernandes?
Unless someone else pays the price Hojbjerg will still be a Saints player and at 22h00 on 5/10/20,Levy will make his move and complain he didn’t have enough time to complete the purchase, but he “will have tried”.
