Jose Mourinho is in the market for a right-back and a back-up striker as part of his transfer plans have been revealed in a report by the Evening Standard.
The Portuguese wants to bring in another forward to ease the workload on injury-hit Harry Kane – and we’ve already relayed a story from The Sun on Sunday that Spurs would be interested in a £10million deal for Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson if the Cherries were relegated. Napoli’s Azkadiusz Milik is another name that has been mentioned.
In terms of a right-back, the report suggests that Serge Aurier, who has been linked with Monaco, could be one of a host of defenders moved on this summer – with Norwich’s Max Aarons a name that has been continuously touted, although the 21-year-old has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sports.
Elsewhere Mourinho remains confident of completing a deal for Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the coming weeks – with Sky Sports reporting on Monday night that Spurs were edging closer to signing the Danish international.
In terms of outgoings, the Standard reckons that Mourinho is prepared to let young trio Oliver Skipp, Ryan Sessegnon and striker Troy Parrott all leave on loan this summer to continue their development, but wants to keep record-signing Tanguy Ndombele.
Juan Foyth, who hasn’t featured since the draw with Norwich in December, and both Danny Rose and Kyle Walker-Peters, who’ve been out on loan, could all be sold.
It would be a great idea to send the trio out on loan to premier league clubs, also good news in getting in a striker COYS
If Parrott wasn’t to leave on loan it would be a great idea to play him in our Europa League games.
Makes sense to loan out Sess with a condition to develop him as a LWB. Dont think he is cut out as an out and out LW/LAM. Also Skipp and Parrot in the Championship. Sell Foyth, Aurier, Lamella, KwP – collectively they should bring in about 60mill.
Incoming – Hojbjerg for 20mil and Robin Koch or Kim Min Jae for 15 mil solves 2 of 4 positions. Not sure whether that attractively priced Callum Wilson even at 10mil will solvw the 2nd striker problem but will be an improvement on having none. The RFB is still not clear, though Tanganga is part of the plan. Semedo ? If we do one splurge I hope ita for an AM with vision. Still havent replaced Sen.
Unless a major overhaul of the team is accomplished, slowly sinking back to mid table mediocrity, message to all long suffering Spurs fans that we are going no where fast under ENIC.
All very well having a shiny grandiose new stadium but unless we have the players to fit whats the point?
Stifled by a lack of pace and creativity what Spurs require in the transfer window is Jack Grealish (a player we could have acquired a couple of years ago when Villa were in desparate financial straits for say £35-£45m had Mr Levy made a realistic offer) for starters!! (Yep as we can’t afford him, their lies the problem).
Admiring his approach to the game can I nominate ex Spurs model pro Scotty Parker as a future Spurs manager! Softly spoken, eloquent combined with a steely determination makes him an attractive candidate.
Whilst I live in hope (it’s the hope that kills you) having not won a trophy since 2008 and last won the league title in 1961 suggests the drought will persist!
IMO our hopes of winning the PL title were extinguished for ever when the Foxes won it in 2016 at odds of 5,000 – 1!. Ouch: Don’t remind me!!!

As for pace – Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Sissoko and Lo Celso have pace to burn. Going forward Tottenham are probably the fastest side around. More creativity is needed but Lo Celso is starting to fire and expect to see a big season from Dele next year. ENIC – the club were an absolute shambles when they took over. The training ground was not fit for purpose; George Graham was the manager; the team were poor and dull; the club were basically a laughing stock. ENIC have completely transformed the entire club making them known throughout Europe, massively increasing the profile and revenue. ENIC have decided that the only way to compete is to build the best stadium in the world and use it to make enormous amounts of money. Unless a club is owned by a multi billionaire this is the only way to compete. Unfortunately BREXIT massively increased the cost of the stadium; now COVID19 is going to restrict the revenue streams in the short term. Longer term, no other club will build a new stadium and therefore the club will get every gig in town – concerts, boxing, festivals, rugby league and union, European finals in different sports, American football etc. ENIC have a model that has transformed the entire club as discussed. The question now is whether Tottenham can buy the players they need to get back into the top 4. Challenging for the title while The Sheikh owns City, Abramovich owns Chelsea, Fenway own Liverpool will be tough. It cannot happen unless the stadium produces the expected income so that is the strategy ENIC have chosen. White Hart Lane was not fit for purpose. We loved it and thankfully we have a new stadium on the old site. The mistake ENIC made was not adding to the squad when we ended second. There is no need for a major overhaul so long as Harry stays. There is some serious quality in that squad especially if Ndombele decides to show up. Careful purchases of experienced players are required at right back, centre back, centre midfield and back up striker.
The problems with the stadium predate brexit by many years. The cost of building materials skyrocketed after the last recession, with cement nearly doubling in price from 2008 to 2014.

There was me sadly watching a team breaking forward with all the ponderous speed of an old traction engine with sideways and backwards passes even when we got to the edge of the opponent’s penalty area and all this time I thought I was watching Spurs. I’m so relieved to discover I have been watching the wrong team!!! At least I think it’s ME that’s been watching the wrong team!!
I’m not talking about the past couple of years. I’m talking about now. The Leicester game demonstrated that it is not pace that Tottenham need as they are probably the fastest team around as stated. Moura, Sissoko, Bergwijn, Son and Lo Celso are all rapid. The pace with which they attacked Leicester was sensational and a sign of things to come. What they will need is some more guile and creativity against teams who are hard to break down. I admire your use of ‘OMG’, exclamation marks and sarcasm. As stated I was talking about pace. You were talking about tactics and the speed with which Tottenham go forward – two entirely different things. I would have expected you to know that
I watched Fulham last night and enjoyed their style of positive possession football. They were proactive always looking to play the ball into areas to put opposition under pressure, rather than like us waiting for them to make a mistake. Both CBs looked good and Christey at RB looked very useful, but the star of the show was Josh scoring an individual goal and running second half. He looks to me to have baulked up, works harder and added a bit of pace to his game, dare I say better than what we got, or is he playing in an attacking system which suits him?

Only a totally naive person would still believe that ENIC has the slightest ambition to strengthen Spurs in order to become a serious candidate to win the EPL title.
Only new owners could give Spurs fans new hopes to believe in a future where winning the EPL title wouldn’t be unthinkable.
Tottenham had a good tilt at the title twice. They have been in the CL final plus numerous finals and semi finals. I struggle to see that it is ENIC’s fault that the team chokes so often

I think what you have said makes sense, Spurs have a great training ground facilities, and a wonderful stadium, second to none. I have been around for a long time, and have seen Spurs win the old first division twice, although too young to remember the first one in 1951, I have seen some of the greatest players put on the famous spurs shirt, and I can remember Spurs buying 2-3 players every season in those years and they always improved the team, the last 10-15 years most of the buys have not really improved the team, of course we have bought some class acts, but I have always thought we are 2-4 tip top players to win us something. I feel we need 3-5 top players to compete with the top 4, if we don’t we fall so far behind, we will never catch up, there are some great players we can buy, I think if Jose wants immediate success, he will have to buy some good old heads
What most of you are saying is true… ENIC did stabilise the club, but that is far as I would go. There no point in having a great looking house from the outside, when the inside needs renovating. The fact that the board dither or demand top price for unwanted players, and offer half of what other clubs want for their players you will get nowhere. Recent managers have not been backed in the market. No point in saying he owns that club or he does that, we don’t care.
ENIC should now sell the club to someone who can take it further, it’s what the fans pay for. We want trophies not a nice house.
Spurs requires at 5 new recruits to succeed next year , right back , center back , holding midfielder , creative midfielder and striker. Serge Aurier makes too many costly mistakes in defense. Jan is leaving so another center back, spurs to do have a genuine holding midfielder so winks and
Sissoko both are playing at same time , Ndombele is not firing so a creative midfielder and spurs must have a back up striker for kane.
Some excellent points made here. However we have been shooting ourselves in the foot for a few seasons now.. Difficult to understand
Some of the transfer decisions. Most of us would have made wiser decisions, I am sure. We had a chance to get Fernandez who , we can now see, would have made a big midfield difference. Bought Sessignon then have barely used him, what is that all about. No backup for Harry cost us two seasons. Paid zillions for NDombele who had a reputation as a lazy player, well documented but we did not check obviously. Missed out on so much other talent it’s astonishing. Levy to blame for some but possibly Pochettino for others.
We bought Foyth, barely have given him a chance yet we keep persisting in playing Gedson who is fair but not up to our quality. We
Lost too many games playing Erickson over players whose heart was far more in the games. Bought Aurier, another with baggage galore, we can see where that has got us. We have got a forward line that is faster than lightning yet persist in playing this sideways and backward passing game even when we are pressing. Cannot seem to beat the high press. Seems to me the coaching is at fault
Being unable to get the best out of our undoubted talent. Now we are forced to sell in order to bolster our squad. Here we go again,
