Jan Vertonghen has revealed that Tottenham felt like “home” from the moment he arrived – and admitted that he would always be welcomed back.
The 33-year-old’s eight-year Spurs career ended on Monday when the club announced that Vertonghen wouldn’t be signing a new contract – along with Dutch goalkeeper Michel Vorm.
Vertonghen joined from Ajax in July 2012 and made 315 appearances for Tottenham – with the last of those coming in the 3-1 victory at Newcastle United earlier this month.
Spurs shared a tribute video for Vertonghen – which featured tributes from Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Harry Kane as some of his ex-teammates shared their best memories of the defender.
