Danny Rose reveals Spurs dream – “There is nothing I want more”

Danny Rose has revealed he is desperate to play for Tottenham again if given the opportunity to do so.

The defender, who spent the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan at Newcastle United, has one year left on his Spurs contract. As things stand, he will return to the north London for pre-season in the coming weeks.

However, Jose Mourinho clearly did not feel Rose was required in his squad, sanctioning the England international’s loan to St James’ Park and picking Ben Davies as his regular left-back.

But Rose says he would be happy to see out his Tottenham contract, admitting playing in front of the Spurs fans again is one of his top priorities.

Appearing on on the Second Captains podcast in quotes relayed by the Guardian, Rose said: “I am very happy to stay at Tottenham and see my last 10 or 11 months out, I would love to. There is nothing I want more than to play one more time in front of the fans.

“My last game for Spurs was a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool and at the time I didn’t know that was going to be or could be my last game for Spurs. I want nothing more than to play in front of the Tottenham fans one more time, just to cherish all the moments we have had over the years with them.

“They have always been good to me. I have possibly given them reasons in the past not to be so good to me, but they know when it was game time I gave everything for them. I will continue to do that as long as I am contracted to Tottenham.”

With Rose’s words in mind, is there a place for the 30-year-old in Mourinho’s squad?

The answer is probably no. Ryan Sessegnon is currently Davies’ deputy, and Spurs could even dip into the market for another left-back this summer if Mourinho considers the position worthy of an upgrade.

All of which means Rose is almost certainly on his way out permanently.
