Atalanta defender Timothy Castagne is interested in joining Tottenham this summer, according to the Athletic.

Castagne, who is primarily a right-back but has also played on the left for Atalanta, made 27 league appearances in the Italian top-flight this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists (via Transfermarkt).

On Friday we relayed a Telegraph report claiming Spurs are willing to sell either Serge Aurier or Juan Foyth to fund a move for Lille right-back Zeki Celik.

But the Athletic believe a deal for Castagne is more likely. Their report suggests the 24-year-old Belgian is available at a reduced price and that he is keen on moving to Tottenham in the coming weeks.

Norwich City starlet Max Aarons is also mentioned as a potential option as Jose Mourinho continues his search for a new right-back, though the Spurs boss is said to have reservations because of Aarons’ height.

Castagne’s versatility may also be a reason he is of interest to Tottenham, who also arguably need to strengthen at left-back – Ben Davies has offered very little going forward of late.

We all know Spurs chairman Daniel Levy loves a cut price deal. So would you take Castagne? Let us know in the comments section below.
