Harry Kane will miss Tottenham’s first pre-season friendly against Ipswich Town on Saturday because he is in quarantine following a trip to the Bahamas, according to the Daily Mail.

The England captain is following the rules by self-isolating for two weeks upon returning from a family holiday, and so he will be not be available for Spurs’ initial preparations ahead of the new campaign.

However, the Mail believes Kane will be back training at Hotspur Way at some point next week, meaning he will be in contention to play in friendlies against Reading and Birmingham City.

Tottenham have announced they will also play a pre-season match against relegated Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday 5 September – Kane will almost certainly play a part there.

The striker’s absence shouldn’t be seen as a blow to Spurs’ plans. It’s likely he would have been given a slightly later return date than others regardless, considering he played a lot of football after the restart despite only recently recovering from a long-term injury.

In fact, a bit of extra rest could be a good thing for Kane.
