The starting XI for Tottenham’s pre-season friendly against Reading this afternoon has been confirmed.
Spurs brushed aside League One outfit Ipswich Town last Saturday without a host of regulars, but have Eric Dier and Steven Bergwijn back in the starting line-up, whilst Serge Aurier, Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela all return and are among the substitutes.
But, Juan Foyth and Harry Winks, who both started against the Tractor Boys, aren’t involved, whilst Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga, Danny Rose, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Kane all absent for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Despite those missing, Mourinho has still selected a strong side and has given Gedson Fernandes another chance at right-back, alongside a familiar defensive trio of Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Ben Davies.
18-year-old Harvey White makes his first start for the club at senior level, partnering summer signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in midfield, whilst Bergwijn is back and joins Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Heung Min Son in attack.
Spurs are back in action tomorrow afternoon against another Championship side in Birmingham City, so those not featuring here can expect an opportunity against the Blues in 24 hours time.
Starting XI: Lloris, Gedson, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies, White, Hojbjerg, Lucas, Alli, Bergwijn, Son.
Substitutes: Hart, Gazzaniga, Aurier, Carter-Vickers, Bowden, Clarke, Cirkin, Scarlett, Devine, Sissoko, Sessegnon, Lamela.
