Reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has dropped the biggest hint yet that Tottenham could re-sign Gareth Bale this summer.
The 31-year-old Welshman left Spurs to sign for Madrid in 2013 and has gone on to win four Champions League titles, two La Liga crowns and a host of other honours.
Bale has continuously been linked with a move back to Tottenham in recent windows, but his crazy wages, which are reportedly in excess of £600,000, according to The Sun, have always proved to be a stumbling block for Spurs, whose highest paid player Harry Kane earns £200,000 per-week, according to the Express.
Earlier today, ESPN revealed that Tottenham had moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign the two-time PFA Premier League Player of the Year – with Madrid, who’re desperate to reduce their wage bill, willing to sell Bale for around £18m.
And Gold believes that Jose Mourinho’s side are pushing hard for a loan deal, but need plenty of help from the La Liga giants.
“I think it might happen,” said the Football.London reporter.
I normally roll my eyes when there's Gareth Bale questions most windows, every year. Finally, this is a window when I don't think I can. From what I understand Spurs are genuinely having a go for a loan and if they can get Real Madrid to help out a lot, I think it might happen.

Usual shite Alasdair…your speciality!
Alasdair is an excellent journalist – measured, modest and insightful. Why do you feel the need to insult him? Is that really the best you can offer?
Come back to bed son and finish me off.
Why oh why is Alasdair always called a ‘reliable’ journalist. He rocks up at press conferences and, just like the rest of us, learns nothing because the club tells us nothing. So let’s get this straight once and fall all Alasdair, bless him, knows nothing. Every blog is stating exactly what he says above so, who knows, it may happen but stop calling him a reliable journalist
I,d rather go after a recognized no10 & a left back From what we saw on Sunday we’d have nobody to get the ball to Bale
Totally agree Graham. We let Castagne go to Leicester and look how he started ! We xhould be looking at someone like Coutinho or a much cheaper version Benrahma. The only player we have that passes the ball forward from midfield is Ndombele and he’s not even guaranteed a game !!
Scott Clarke
If Bale could happen, then Levy should make it happen. Bale needs to be loved by a club to bring the best out of him. And We can and José can do that … Coys
Already got Ndombelle who isn’t fit. Bale is not fit and will take time to get fit enough to get best out of him. Then there are his injury problems. Too risky for me although would love to see him back performing at his best. I cannot understand why we just don’t pay the little extra to get the players we could have. Imagine having Bruno Fernandez and Dyballa in the squad now and they would be worth more now than what we would have had to pay out. Levy a shrewd businessman, I think not, more like your typical accountant who has no understanding of our business. Need to get Levy and ENIC out a.s.a.p.
EVERY WINDOW…??!.when are fans going to wake up to this nonsense. They use Bale EVERY window to deflect attention from Levy’s measley failings and eek the time away to deadline hour. What a bunch of bollox. Another journo on the payrole of ENIC investment co….
Beam me up.
I’m getting the word NONCE. Wake up you cunt.
We need to sign some black players. This is racism, Hojberg, Hart, Doherty, Regulion and Bale are all white. This is soo bad.
I will accept money as an apology.
