Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with Jesse Lingard and has urged Daniel Levy to begin negotiations with the Manchester United ace, according to ESPN.

The 27-year-old was left out of the United squad for their 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday and has dropped down the pecking order in 2020, starting only nine Premier League games last season – with the most recent of those coming in January.

Lingard has scored 33 goals in 207 appearances for the Red Devils, with 13 of those coming in the 2017-2018 campaign – the most prolific campaign in his career – when Mourinho was in charge at Old Trafford.

Spurs have already signed Gareth Bale in this window, but Mourinho still wants attacking reinforcements in the coming weeks and ESPN believe that the Portuguese wants to sign Lingard, but his arrival could depend on the future of Dele Alli.

The England midfielder has been axed from the Tottenham squad for their previous two matches and after being left out of the travelling party for today’s win at Southampton, the Telegraph have already reported that Alli is in talks with PSG.

Alli still has four-years left on his deal in north London and has been linked with Real Madrid in the past week.
