Tottenham are 90 minutes away from the Europa League group stages after beating Macedonian outfit Shkendija in their 3rd qualifying round tie on Thursday evening.

Goals from Erik Lamela, Heung Min Son and Harry Kane earned Jose Mourinho’s side a 3-1 victory to set up a tie with Maccabi Haifa of Israel at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the play-offs next Thursday.

Here’s how we rated the players on the day:

Joe Hart, 6 – Vocal as ever, but quiet in the way of action and could do little about Shkendija’s wonderful equaliser.

Serge Aurier, 7 – First appearance of the season and wasn’t massively tested defensively. Sent over some good crosses that should have been finished off, however.

Davinson Sanchez, 6 – Straightforward 90 minutes, with a few lapses of concentration.

Toby Alderweireld, 6 – Comfortable evening, although he missed a wonderful chance, nodding wide from a Son corner.

Ben Davies, 5 – Nowhere near good enough in possession. Sergio Regulion becoming available can’t come quick enough.

Harry Winks, 4 – His performances against Real Madrid and Barcelona seem a long way off at present.

Tanguy Ndombele, 8 – First 90 minutes in the tank since 28 December and he was Spurs’ best player on the night. Quickly growing in confidence and looked quicker and fitter all night.

Dele Alli, 4 – First appearance since the opening day and missed a golden opportunity from close-range to double Tottenham’s lead. Deservedly hooked soon after the equaliser.

Erik Lamela, 6 – Handed his first start of the campaign and coolly put Spurs in front in the 5th minute with a neat finish.

Steven Bergwijn, 4 – Offered zero.

Heung Min Son, 8 – Produced some classy footwork to create Lamela’s opener. Put Spurs back in front with clinical finish before assisting Kane’s goal with an inch-perfect cross.

Substitutes:

Harry Kane, 7 – Came off the bench and made the game safe with a thumping late header.

Giovani Lo Celso, 7 – Played a perfectly-threaded pass to Lucas for Son’s goal.

Lucas Moura, 6 – Involved in the second goal as his shot was saved into the path of Son.

  1. Story of the match is Ndombele getting into form and fitness means we may stop missing the vision of Sen even if not hos work rate or ability to add goals. But the vision is huge.
The other is Dele and Winks need to reinvent themselves. They are well short of being 1st 11 worthy.

  2. What a load of bullock. The only player that was reauired to show that he has it was Tanguy. This writer must have predetemined the ratings for Winks because i cannot see any player keep below 6. The opposition was that poor.

  3. Good morning to one and all. Did not see the game so can’t comment but 3 players marked 4 and 1 marked 5 against pretty poor opposition does not bode well when we play someone decent and although you might argue they are squad players does that still make them good enough to be so if we are going to challenge for honours, especially when I look at previous games where whatever team we field there are substandard performers

    • The writer is out of his mind. Probly watch the game on tele like myelf, but has the ability to write plain thrash. Winks for example did what he was suppose to do sit low and protect the defense. He lack range in his passing but key is that if he allows us to retain positions and afford Tanguy to dance and spin and twist knowing he has coverage, Wink was doing his job. All be it we played a second tier team, we never surrendered the middle of the park. Those who are looking for seeing eye passes from Winks are not going get it. That does not mean he did not do his job. Tanguy was a hybrid midfielder today not that silly #10 position Jose stick him in then blame him for failing. He is not quick enough off the ball to be pressing that is Locelso job. He needs to be paired with PEH and Gio. This way he sits and read the game. Unfortunately he does not possesses the same speed without the ball althougg he is a sharpe tackler, that is because he reads the game when facing the ball. He is going to be some player with the ball on his laces.

  4. How many current Spurs full squad players would get in any of the top 8 teams such as Liverpool City Chelsea United Arsenal Leicester Everton & Wolves ?
    I’m struggling after 4 !!!!
