Tottenham starlet Troy Parrott has been called up to play for the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21s side in the upcoming international break, per RTE.

The 18-year-old is currently on loan at Millwall but is yet to feature in the Championship because of an injury. He has played just 45 minutes of EFL Cup football so far this season.

But his inclusion in the ROI’s Under-21s squad is potentially good news for Spurs and Millwall as it indicates he is well on the road to recovery.

Parrott’s promise has seen him already earn a senior Ireland cap, but his lack of appearances so far this term means he has only been deemed worthy of a place in the youth set-up for now.

That said, the teenager should see this as an opportunity to gain some match fitness at a lower level before returning to action for Millwall and the Irish senior side.

The only worry is that Parrott is overused during the international break. Both Tottenham and Millwall will be keen for him to play sparingly so there is no risk of another injury.
