One tie stood out above any other as the FA Cup third round games were drawn on Monday evening – Premier League leaders Tottenham will head to EIGHTH tier side Marine!
The Merseyside-based club are only the second eighth tier club to ever play in the third round of the FA Cup. So of course, they have been drawn against the current Premier League leaders.
Jose Mourinho will take his Spurs side to Marine on the weekend of 8-11 January. It’s just a shame there is unlikely to be fans in attendance. That said, the lack of stands at Rossett Park, where there is only room for 389 seated fans, means supporters will probably be able to get a view of the pitch from close by.
It’s a remarkable tie that is sure to be televised, so stay tuned for information on that in the coming weeks. Mourinho will almost certainly rest his key players, but the depth in Tottenham’s squad means there will be a few internationals facing Marine.
Some Spurs fans have been reacting to the draw on Twitter – below are some of the best responses.

Your not a proper Spurs fan if you haven’t already had that feeling that Lucas Moura will score in the 85 minute to salvage a draw before we win 7-0 in the replay.
