Tottenham are preparing a summer move for Southampton striker Danny Ings, according to Eurosport.
Ings is yet to sign fresh terms with the Saints – with his current deal at St Mary’s expiring at the end of next season, meaning he could be available for a cut-price.
The former Liverpool frontman was one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League last season, scoring 22 times in 38 appearances, bettered only be Leicester’s Jamie Vardy.
Jose Mourinho did sign a back-up to Harry Kane in the summer in on-loan Benfica man Carlos Vinicius, but the Brazilian has a hefty release and is unlikely to join Spurs permanently having failed to start a league match, although he’s scored six times in both the Europa League and FA Cup, including a first-half treble against Non-League side Marine.
And Eurosport believe that Tottenham are now looking to enquire as to whether the England man would be interested in making the switch to north London – with a summer approach more likely than a move later this month.
