Leicester City made an approach to sign former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen but have been put off by his wages, according to the Telegraph.

Eriksen has been heavily linked with a return to Spurs after enduring a difficult first 12 months at Inter Milan, who he joined from the Londoners a year ago.

But it looks like Tottenham have some competition from their Premier League rivals.

The Telegraph claims Leicester have spoken to Inter about taking Eriksen on loan, but they have already pulled out of the deal because of the Dane’s £300,000-a-week salary.

Reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Inter have told Leicester and Spurs they must pay all of Eriksen’s wages or they will not sign him this month.

The Foxes have clearly been put off by this, but there is no word yet on whether Tottenham also see their ex-player as unattainable this month.

Spurs are already paying big money to have Gareth Bale on loan, so there is a chance they will not want to splash out on yet another expensive temporary deal.
