Tottenham admire RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann but Jose Mourinho has the support of an important figure in the dressing room, according to reports.
Spurs’ form has nosedived in recent weeks, with an FA Cup exit at the hands of Everton and a humbling Premier League defeat at Manchester City raising further doubts about the direction of the current set-up.
It’s perhaps no surprise, then, that the Londoners are possibly having an initial look elsewhere. The Athletic claims Nagelsmann ‘has admirers at Tottenham’ – though of course that doesn’t mean he is particularly close to leaving Leipzig for Spurs.
Indeed, Mourinho’s position is strengthened by apparent support from Harry Kane. Football Insider believes Kane has told friends that Mourinho has his full backing, which probably means something to the Tottenham hierarchy given Kane’s standing at the club.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs – and Kane – begin lose patience with Mourinho if results don’t improve in the coming weeks. If so, the admiration of Nagelsmann could evolve into more than just interest.
Nagelsmann would be amazing but doubt he’d be interested!
I’m really hope Levy pulls the trigger on José and boots him out, however firstly I doubt he will do as it was he who acted quickly to bring him in and secondly assuming we can’t bring in Nagelsmann who do we get!
Best thing José has done at Spurs is Sacramento, so whatever happens I hope he stays
