It seems Jose Mourinho will remain in charge of Tottenham until the end of the season no matter what, if a new report is to be believed.
ESPN claims Mourinho will not learn his fate until the summer, regardless of results before then.
Spurs currently sit ninth in the Premier League table and could find themselves nine points behind fourth place by the end of this weekend if they lose at West Ham on Sunday.
Their league form coupled with an early FA Cup exit has raised doubts over Mourinho’s future, but it sounds like he should have no immediate concerns.
ESPN believes the League Cup final being pushed back to April has eased the pressure somewhat, which suggests Mourinho could keep his job if he wins the competition – regardless of how Tottenham perform elsewhere.
All of which raises the question: will Mourinho still be in charge next season if Spurs win the League Cup but finish outside the top four and fail in the Europa League?
We’re not so sure. That said, the mood around the club will certainly be improved if Mourinho secures a first piece of silverware for 13 years.
