Marcel Sabitzer is expected to leave RB Leipzig this summer and Tottenham could make a move for the midfielder, according to Football Insider.
Sabitzer, who has scored five goals in the Bundesliga so far this season, found the net twice against Spurs in the Champions League Round of 16 last term.
And Football Insider believes Leipzig are looking at potential replacements as they prepare to lose the Austrian this summer.
The report claims Spurs enquired about signing Sabitzer in January after a he impressed the Londoners’ head of recruitment Steven Hitchen during scouting missions.
And now it seems Tottenham could finally make their move before the start of next season.
Sabitzer will enter the final year of his current contract in this summer, so it’s possible Spurs will be able to agree a cut-price fee for the 26-year-old.
Tottenham have lacked goals from midfield since Christian Eriksen’s exit, and with Tanguy Ndombele dropping into a deeper role lately, Jose Mourinho needs a new attacking midfielder.
Giovani Lo Celso’s recurring injuries haven’t helped matters either, nor has Dele Alli’s lack of game time – all of which is to say that signing Sabitzer would be a wise piece of business.
