Tottenham have held talks to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng this summer, according to reports in Germany.
Boateng is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and so will be available on a free transfer. He is already allowed to talk to other clubs about joining them before the start of next season.
And Sky Sports in Germany claims ‘concrete talks’ between Spurs and Boateng have already taken place.
The only other potential suitor mentioned in the report is Borussia Dortmund, who could offer Boateng the chance to stay in Germany, where he has been playing for the last 10 years.
The 32-year-old joined Bayern from Manchester City and it seems he might make a return to English football this summer if Tottenham’s interest is genuine.
There will obviously be question marks over Boateng’s willingness to play for a club outside of the Champions League after spending so many years at Europe’s top table.
Spurs could still finish in the top four but those hopes took a major hit after the defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Yes this is a Danny enic type of signing. Over the hill past his best no other club with a interest in a top 6 place wants Danny boy will take. Can just see him and dier at the heart of our defence next year. Slowest worst defence in the league.
And playing in a stadium with 20.000 spectators; no not because of Covid restrictions which will have been lifted, but because fans are fed up with the team and set up.
Well Harry Kane; if that is not showing ambition, what is?
Certain that that will convince you to stay on beyond this season.
