Reliable Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has denied that Spurs want to replace Jose Mourinho with former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.
The Italian has been out of work since leaving Juventus at the end of last season, and Sports Witness appeared to believe that Daniel Levy is lining up Sarri to replace Mourinho should he lose his job following increased speculation surrounding his future at Tottenham.
Pressed cranked up on the Spurs boss after Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United left his side six points behind the top four and in serious danger of missing out on European football for the first time since 2009.
But Gold said in a Q&A on Twitter that there’s no truth in the rumours linking Sarri to the north London outfit, whilst he expects Mourinho to stay until at least the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City later this month.
Sarri has a reasonably impressive track record at Chelsea, Napoli and Juventus, but should Mourinho get sacked, this isn’t a potential appointment we can see materialising.
It doesn’t matter who is in charge, if Lewis, Levy and ENIC don’t invest in the quality of players we need, nothing will change. If Mourinho had the squad, we’d win things, it’s as simple as that.

Mate I kind of agree and disagree tbh. 100% on board re: Levy/Lewis…. they seem unlikely to change their approach so new ownership is crucial for us to take the next step, we are suffering badly on the field and Poch called it before he left.
But Jose is making some bizarre decisions on the field…. the argument of aurier over Tananga is ridiculous. He offers more going forward… well occasionally yes but too often he’s out of position and his decision making is dreadful. Sanchez or Dier…: well frankly neither, Toby is far better and a regular fixture for Belgium. Not selecting rodon for Europe? Why…. loyalty to others was suggested… ridiculous. The refusal to give bale a run of games, then playing him and seeing him grow in stature quickly, only to have one bad 45 against arsenal and send him back to the bench… newsflash, he was probably one of our better players on the day. Dele alli? Harry winks? Vinicius? SteveB…. in and out and extradited completely… why? I mean Dele needed a step back and rethink but there comes a time when he deserves another run to see if he’s worked out his priority lays on the pitch. The lack of any effort against arsenal, then in Europe and the the shambles of United, who are very average considering teams of old…. bringing sissoko on over bale at that crucial time of the game… bizarre!
I think it’s safe to see Jose wouldn’t win anything with better players alone… there’s much more to it than that I’m afraid. 40 years of supporting and I have never felt this disconnected… I’m just glad my season ticket is still gathering dusk frankly.

Keep changing the manager, but the problems are higher.

the last decade has been our most successful on and off the pitch both in terms of CL qualification/participation as well as commercially – with players that most teams in Europe would love to have in their squads. They didn’t know Covid was coming – we’ve been affected possibly more than other teams (maybe alongside Liverpool) by the impact of the absence of the 12th man – despite the claim “its the same for all teams”, I don’t think that’s true. We have been financially leveraged due to the long-term planning of the owners/chairman at a time when revenues have been slashed – tough times following approximately 250m net spend over the past 4 years and also bringing many of our star players up to wage levels seen only at the top clubs. Like the general population – think we all need to sit tight and make judgement in more normal circumstances.

Changing the Manager will not solve anything. Jose is one of the most respected Mangers in the football world. He is controversial always has been it is what makes him so successful. Toreplace him with a lesser more pliable Manager makes no sence at all. Thfc doesn’t need a Yes man it needs leadership from the very top. Amazing stadium now build an Amazing team.
