Paris Saint-Germain could make a move for Tottenham defender Serge Aurier this summer, according to reports in France.

Aurier joined Spurs from PSG in the summer of 2017. He regularly battled with Kieran Trippier to be Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice right-back.

Trippier was eventually sold to Atletico Madrid, making Aurier a regular starter last season with little competition.

Matt Doherty was signed to keep Aurier on his toes last summer, and in fairness the Ivorian has enjoyed periods of good form this term.

That said, a return to PSG seems farfetched.

French outlet Le Parisien claims Pochettino wants to reunite with Aurier this summer, with PSG needing to strengthen on the right side of defence.

But over several seasons, Aurier has arguably proven he isn’t quite good enough for a team fighting for major trophies – so why would Pochettino want to sign him again?

Perhaps the former Tottenham boss is simply looking for back-up at right-back, but it still strikes us as strange that he sees Aurier as the solution.
