Tottenham may allow Erik Lamela to leave the club in the coming months, according to Football London.
Lamela is about to enter the final year of his contract, meaning this summer is the last chance Spurs will have to sell him for a fee.
If a new deal isn’t agreed, the Argentine will be allowed to speak to foreign clubs next January about a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Consequently, Tottenham will probably either tie him down or sell him before the start of next season – and Football London seems to think the latter is more likely.
Their report claims Spurs will ‘listen to offers’ for Lamela this summer so that the Londoners can raise funds for new signings.
It’s arguably the correct decision. Lamela has given everything he has to give to Tottenham and isn’t getting any younger.
With that in mind, it’s probably time for the 29-year-old to move on, for the good of Spurs and the latter years of his career.
