Tottenham advisor David Pleat has been scouting Northampton Town starlet Caleb Chukwuemeka, according to Football Insider.

Chukwuemeka, 19, has made 20 appearances in League One so far this season, scoring one goal.

And Football Insider claims Pleat, who is said to work for Spurs in advisory role, has watched the teenager on a few occasions.

Yet to sign a professional contract with Northampton, Chukwuemeka could be available on a free transfer next summer when his scholarship contract expires.

Tottenham would likely have to pay a bit of compensation, but that is generally the case with this sort of deal.

It’s probable that Spurs are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Harry Kane, so interest in Chukwuemeka would make sense.

However, the Londoners already possess promising young strikers in Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett, so a move for Chukwuemeka could be seen as unnecessary.

That said, it’s always good to have multiple high-quality youth players coming through, and there is no guarantee Parrott and Scarlett will fulfil their potential.

  1. Spurs need a complete overhaul including Levy. The youth set up have better players than some first team frauds who’s stealing a living. Hopefully things change soon, real sad being a Spurs fan now
