Tottenham have joined the race to sign highly-rated Brentford striker Ivan Toney, according to Football Insider.

Toney has earned rave reviews following an impressive first campaign at Championship level – scoring 30 goals to help the Bees secure a top-six place.

His strike in Brentford’s victory over Watford on Saturday saw him become just the second player ever to score 30 times in the Championship, and first since Glenn Murray in 2013.

And Football Insider believe that Tottenham, who’re looking to bring in another striker regardless of whether Harry Kane leaves, are keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old.

Carlos Vinicius, who’s scored just once following his loan move from Benfica last summer, isn’t expected to return to north London next season, which could open the door for Spurs to add to their forward department.

Toney has scored 56 times across the previous two seasons, and could provide ideal competition for Kane, should Spurs beat off competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal, West Ham and Everton.
